Family-Therapy: position for a Clinical Psychologist working with individuals, adults, and couples

Family-Therapy is located in the West end of Ottawa. We provide mental health
psychotherapy services to children, youth, individuals, couples, and families.
Position Description

• Provide clinical psychological services to individuals, adults, and couples.
• Maintain client records by documenting client assessments, preparing progress
notes and reports in accordance with established standards, and policies and
procedures to meet regulatory requirements of the College of Psychologists of
Ontario.
• Remain abreast of current literature and relevant developments in clinical
practice.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development.
• Be able to conduct a comprehensive psycho-educational assessment to
determine an individual’s strengths and weaknesses and provide feedback to
individuals and their families.
Must possess one of the following sets of credentials with competencies in assessment,
treatment and therapy for adults and couples:
• PhD or Psy.D. in clinical psychology and must be currently registered with the
College of Psychologists of Ontario with a certificate authorizing autonomous
practice as a psychologist; or
• Master’s degree in clinical psychology and must be currently registered with the
College of Psychologists of Ontario with a certificate authorizing autonomous
practice as a psychological associate.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Recent and relevant training and experience in the field of mental health working
directly with adults and couples as a clinical psychologist, utilizing experiential
therapy, attachment based therapy in community-based, outpatient programs or
in private practice.
• Recent and relevant training and experience working with Trauma.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles regarding individual
and couples’ therapy, including current models of both short-term and long-term
intervention.
• Ability to conduct and score Psycho-educational Testing for adults.

• Demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills, excellent
interpersonal and organizational skills, and intermediate computer skills.
• Proven leadership and self-initiative and demonstrated ability to utilize critical
thinking and problem solving skills.
• Fluency in English is a must. Fluency in French is an asset. Ability to speak other
languages is also an asset but not necessary.

• Ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with peers, other
professionals, clients, and families.

• Clear criminal record check is required.
• Availability to work during the day and some evenings.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
